Check out the enormous hornet that my son killed on the back patio last week. It's head is as big as my son's thumb and he is a VERY large young man. It's so big that I wouldn't be surprised if it could carry away a small child.

I know this is 3 YO now, but I have the SAME hornets. This is the first pic I have been able to find that matches EXACTLY. Did you ever find out what it is? I'd really like to know. Thanks!!
